NOTE Tips & Tricks

Traceability in DateCodeGenie is a portal setting that allows an origin date to be entered on the print preview screen of the app to calculate an expiration date.

There are two parts to setting up traceability:

1. Add expiration date to menu items

Menu items that will be used for traceability must have an expiration date set, see Use Date Fields in a Menu Item.

2. Set up traceability printer profiles

Traceability is set up from the features editor in the layout designer for a printer profile, see Manage Printer Profiles.

NOTE

Each menu item will need its own printer profile, since the expiration after traceability date is set for each printer profile feature.

Steps:

1. Select the menu item from the dropdown to preview.

2. Add desired traceability features:

Traceability Date

Prints the traceability date, entered on the print preview page when printing on the app.

Expiration with Traceability

Prints the expiration date calculated with the traceability date. This is set up in the features editor.

Feature Editor Fields

a) Expires X Days after traceability date: Set how many days after the traceability date does the menu item expire.

b) Compares to Item Expiration: Set how the app determines the expiration date by comparing the set menu item expiration date and the set printer profile expiration after traceability date.

  • Use Minimum Date: goes with whichever date is sooner.
  • Use Maximum Date: goes with whichever date is later.
  • Always Use This Date: Always uses the traceability expiration date.

Tips & Tricks

Name the Traceability Date Label the exact same thing for both features so staff only has to enter the date one time on the print preview screen.

3. Click Save Changes.
